12/2/04: Fahrenkrog qualifies for funding, leaving for Amsterdam

Joy Fahrenkrog, 2005 US Archery Team member and PSE pro shooter qualified for funding for the World Indoor Championships at the Archery Custom Shop in Forest Park, IL on Thursday.  Fahrenkrog needed two scores of 555 or better out of 600 to qualify for funding.  She shot a 561 last year in Andover, MA at the National Indoor Championships and a tournament personal best of 567 just two days ago.  She will still have to qualify for the US World Indoor Team at the Trials in Hillsboro, TX which begins January 14th.  Fahrenkrog leaves for Amsterdam on Tuesday to compete in the highly promoted European Face to Face tournament.  Her airfare to the Netherlands was donated by Bill Pimm, president of the US Crossbow Association.  She will be the only US representative in the women’s Olympic recurve division.  You can follow her progress at the tournament on her website: www.joyfahrenkrog.com.  Fahrenkrog began the sport just two years ago and placed 6th in the US Olympic Trials held this past June.
