12/11/04: Fahrenkrog shoots 3rd highest score, fails to advance

Joy Fahrenkrog shot the 3rd highest score (564/600) of the 12 girls remaining in the Recurve division at the Face 2 Face tournament in Amsterdam.  As per the rules, the top four advanced based on number of matches won, not score shot.  Joy will be sitting out tomorrow cheering on fellow US Archer, Bryan Helland who made the top four cut for the Compound Men.

Fahrenkrog is not disappointed with her finish however, "I had a tough day yesterday and the goal for today was to put yesterday behind me and focus on the right things today.  I didn't win as many matches as I would have liked, losing two by just 1 point.  But I'm satisfied with finishing 5th.  I wouldn't even be here right now if it hadn't been for the generous sponsorship from Bill Pimm and USA Crossbow."  About switching bows just two weeks before the tournament, Fahrenkrog says "The switch to PSE was great, I was a little nervous about changing so close to a high profile tournament, but in the end I managed.  I think the X-Factor will really give me an edge this year."

Other news from the Face 2 Face, Americans John Dudley and Aya La Brie just barely missed the top 12 cut in their respective divisions by 1 point.  Dave Cousins lost a place in the top 4 in a 4th arrow shoot off to Dutch archery star Martin Damsbo.  The two world champions gave quite a show!
